soil.

A human foot touching ground.

Perhaps that is why the sentence אני חנוך בן ירד is so powerful.

The whole celestial architecture gathers around a memory of embodiment.

Whether or not one builds an exegetical doctrine on the name, the sound is almost too beautiful to ignore.

Chanoch ben Yered.

The ascender born of descent.

The walker who emerges from the line of “going down”.

The human taken upward who never loses the name of the father whose name sounds like descent.

The entire circuit is almost written into the genealogy.

Descent.

Walking.

Ascent.
